Creating Jobs Means Listening to Job Creators

05/18/2012

By: Nathan T. Perea

As someone who spends a lot of time talking with businesses of all sizes in East King County, one thing I hear all the time is “I’d like to hire someone, but it is so expensive”.

It makes you wonder why almost everyone you talk to will agree that creating jobs in the private sector is the key to any economic recovery, yet our state has continuously made it more expensive to do so. The very employers that are capable of creating those jobs can’t or won’t because of the cost, complexity, and unpredictability that our state’s bureaucracy demands. And those same employers are glad to share the ways in which to help them create those jobs, yet our state fails to listen.

That’s about to change.

By: Mathew Patrick Thomas

The sun is shining and opportunities are abound to help out the McKenna campaign in the Seattle area this time of year! Simple things like a couple of volunteers walking Green Lake, street fairs, farmers markets, or just strolling down the Burke Gilman trail wearing Rob McKenna for Governor t-shirts with literature to pass out to the interested, can really help out the Grass Roots efforts of the campaign. If interested in participating in these types of Grass Roots campaign efforts, please contact Madeleine McKenna, Coalitions Coordinator for the campaign at madeleine@robmckenna.org.

Also we are very excited that the Rob McKenna for Governor Seattle Field Office is opening up this Sunday in Chinatown/International District! Come on down to Hing Hay Park on the corner of S. Upcoming Rhododendron Festival

05/17/2012

By: Edel Sokol

The Jefferson County/Port Townsend Rhododendron Festival is an annual festival that celebrates the giant, colorful blooms of the native Rhododendron trees. As the “Rhody’s” blossom, so does the town with its Trike Races, Rhododendron Flower Show, Pet Parade, Kiddies Parade, Bed Races, Elks Rhody Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast, and the carnival.

Friends of Rob McKenna will be out in force on Saturday May 19, 2012 - at the Rhody Parade to support Rob to be our next governor. So if you have never been in a parade before, come and have some fun joining the Jefferson County Republicans by waving a sign in support of our next governor, Rob McKenna.

If interested contact Edel at (360) 531-1181 or preussenfrau@hotmail.com.

Rob visits Philips in Bothell with Mayor Lamb

05/16/2012

In a recent visit to Bothell, Rob met with Mayor Mark Lamb to tour the city's Philips plant, which produces medical equipment and oral healthcare products — think Sonicare toothbrushes.

Headquartered at its Bothell location are Philips' sales and service operations for the continent, as well as its ultrasound business. Approximately 1,800 people are employed here, including a team of professional ultrasound operators who actually test the devices on themselves, which made for an unusual but highly interesting portion of the tour.

Rob's Plan for Education

05/14/2012

By: Matt Henderson

It’s no surprise to anyone living in Franklin County, that we’ve experienced tremendous growth on our population over the last decade. Friends and family who aren’t from the area often ask me what is driving the growth. Though many of us know that’s not an easy question to answer because there are so many driving forces, I’m often driven to answer quite simply…people are really figuring out that this is a great part of the state and country to live in! The weather is great, the home prices are affordable, there are lots of great outdoor activities, lots of great wine, the rivers, parks, trails, etc.

If you’ve lived in the area throughout this population boom, you’ve also likely seen the strain that can be put on local resources to support the increasing population, as well as stay ahead of the growth and plan for yet more growth in the future. Perhaps the most visible and “top of mind” impact that most people see relates to the strain put on our school districts.

Education – A Paramount Issue

05/08/2012

By: Nathan T. Perea

There is one very simple reason that voters all across our state can unite in support for Rob in his bid for Governor – His depth and understanding on the issues.

Never before have we seen a candidate with such mastery over the complexities and nuances of our State’s most pressing needs and nowhere else is this more evident than in Rob’s plans for public education.
